Take a life, an artists life
Make it hard, give them strife
Turn them into someone forlorn
Dont think twice about pouring scorn
Upon their work, for all to see
Does it well with intense glee
Cloaking you with their disdain
Its not the trend Are you insane
Its too much this or not enough that
With a sneer you are turned down flat
Time ticks away, you still produce
Your heart and mind need no excuse
To create at will, is your Endeavour
To climb the ladder of success, however
Many times they snap the rungs
You will climb and shout with expanding lungs
You will not hide your work away
In dusty drawers in disarray
You want the eyes of the world to gaze
Upon your work and lift the haze
To break fragile shells, and look inside
No longer run, no longer hide
Break through the fabric of your life
Your brush becomes a switchblade knife.

Glad to be Home
″It′s been one of those weeks, the roads were rammed, the Boss was a bully AGAIN, the heel broke on my new shoes, the cat did a whoopsee on the carpet, my boyfriend has not phoned all day, the lift still does not work, the landlord has not fixed that light even though I have asked five times now, that bloke is staring out of the window at me and it′s just started to rain. God, I am glad to be home″.

2 Beats in a Bar are two oil paintings on box gallery canvas each measuring 31cm x 61cm.
When I listen to music I often think of the musical notes as being a solid form so painted some jazz with the notes floating around the musicians on ribbons some being blue for the blues and others being sharp and white, with some light blue in between. Sassy shoes finish them off! A couple of fun paintings for a music fan.
Currently being exhibited at The Art Boutique, Tauranga

Saved. Out there, somewhere, when you need them, there is someone who will save you. Either from you, or the elements, or danger of all kinds as danger takes many forms. I am one of those fortunate souls who was saved by the depth of love from another human being. That certain someone, who can pick me up, hold me close and carry me to safety, before I drown.. Two Lost Souls is a depiction of the lyrics to Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd.

So, so you think you can tell, Heaven from Hell
Blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail.
A smile from a veil
Do you think you can tell.
And did they get you to trade, your heroes for ghosts.
Hot ashes for trees
Hot air for a cool breeze
Cold comfort for change
And did you exchange, a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage.
How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We are just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have you found. The same old fears.
Wish you were here..

Mark Knopfler The Sultan of Swing.
Another painting inspired by song lyrics.
You get a shiver in the dark
It′s been raining in the park but meantime
South of the river you stop and you hold everything
A band is blowing Dixie double four time
You feel all right when you hear that music ring
You step inside but you don′t see too many faces
Coming in out of the rain to hear the jazz go down
Too much competition too many other places
But not too many horns can make that sound
Way on downsouth, way on downsouth, London town
You check out Guitar George he knows all the chords
Mind he′s strictly rhythm he doesn′t want to make it cry or sing
And an old guitar is all he can afford
When he gets up under the lights to play his thing
And Harry doesn′t mind if he doesn′t make the scene
He′s got a daytime job he′s doing alright
He can play honky tonk just like anything
Saving it up for Friday night
With the Sultans with the Sultans of Swing
And a crowd of young boys they′re fooling around in the corner
Drunk and dressed in their best brown baggies and their platform soles
They don′t give a damn about any trumpet playing band
It ain′t what they call rock and roll
And the Sultans played Creole
And then the man he steps right up to the microphone
And says at last just as the time bell rings
′Thank you goodnight now it′s time to go home′
and he makes it fast with one more thing
′We are the Sultans of Swing′

Basque in Bilbao.
The structures are there, albeit in tatters
The people walk by, who cares, what matters
We have the museum of beautiful art
The Guggenheim sitting there, gleaming and smart
How can it be, these buildings decaying
Left untouched, unloved, sadness conveying
The city is now so crumpled and shallow
The city once loved, the city Bilbao. Print Available - Email Your Request

When you take a look through darkened eyes
Do not linger on what you despise
Cast a gaze at the beauty therein
And allow the warmth of the people to come in
You say all we see are landmarks of time
That the buildings depict what is yours and mine
Great towering fortresses that laden the sky
Round beehive buildings that are used to defy
The distinguishing flags that our forefathers left
Which one has to fly to stop feeling bereft
What you see are reflections of what only you see
What we do is look through them, for you are not me.

Wine O′Clock is an oil on box gallery canvas, painted on all sides so ready to hang.

That time of day when all is done
Meet up with friends and have some fun
Not too many, just a few
Just enough to subdue
The working hours, the tension eases
Merlot, Pinot, the senses pleases
Look at the watch, horror and shock
It must be time for Wine O′Clock.

Roundabout Way represents lifes twists and turns. You can head off in one direction, only to find yourself being diverted into another. A bit like roundabouts and junctions on the road and there are roadworks making you turn off into a direction you just don′t want to go down. The background is a rainbow just to be sarcastic - well you have to be sometimes and then laugh about it.

Blockade

Most of my work is produced on large canvas sizes, so this was a challenge for me so I chose rough canvas which has a lot of body to compensate for the small image that I painted onto it. In a way I felt that it was in need of nourishment I suppose. It was fun to do and there are four of these little paintings. Small does not necessarily mean quicker though
as this painting took a month to complete and a certain amount of eye strain.. Print Available - Email Your Request

Osmosis. The human membrane that binds us all.
Look after your sisters, daughters, mothers, aunties, grandmothers as they are precious, but most of all look after yourself because without you they are lost.

You are never alone even when I am not there
You are never alone even when you think I dont care
You are never alone because you are part of me
You are never alone because your heart is free
You are never alone even in the darkest of nights
You are never alone as our love is the brightest of lights. Print Available - Email Your Request

The Treaty

I am but a man. I am not anything.
When my family smile I feel my heart sing.
I toiled through life, to give it away.
I sense that is my destiny, every day.

The Treaty I follow, in all its meanings.
No selling of souls or devilish leanings.
I came to terms with my life and living,
I will stay true and be more forgiving.

Look into my eyes and tell me I am wrong.
That there are unified tongues elated in song.
There are mountains to climb and bridges to cross.
That mankind means just that and all is not lost.. Print Available - Email Your Request

Pure Greenius.
Cicadas singing in the tree
Amidst a glow and mystery
They sing their song in constant rhyme
They do not care of space and time
People below are in constant chatter
About silly things that do not matter
Soon all will be quiet and they will be free
To continue their singing with abandoned glee. Print Available - Email Your Request
